🇵🇱 The Crimson Snow Laury Vegi to jedna z tych książek, które na początku wydają się znajome, a jednak potrafią oczarować własną magią. Pojawiają się tu dość oczywiste i rozpoznawalne motywy, szczególnie dla fanów romantasy, ale mimo to historia pozostaje wciągająca i przyjemna w odbiorze. 

Bardzo kojarzyła mi się z Once Upon a Broken Heart — głównie przez oparcie fabuły na baśni o kobiecie przemienionej w lisicę i zabitej przez ukochanego — z tą różnicą, że nie jest przesłodzona. Zamiast tego stawia na mroczniejszy, bardziej niepokojący klimat baśni. Świat jest zimny i moralnie szary, co skutecznie buduje napięcie, a wieczna zima tworzy świetną atmosferę. 

Bardzo podobała mi się główna bohaterka. Są momenty, w których naprawdę zaczynałam kwestionować jej intencje i zastanawiać się, czy ostatecznie nie okaże się czarnym charakterem tej historii. Ta niejednoznaczność sprawia, że jest znacznie ciekawsza i trzyma uwagę przez całą książkę. 

To nie jest powieść idealna — niektóre wątki fabularne można przewidzieć — ale mimo to czytało mi się ją bardzo satysfakcjonująco. Historia płynie sprawnie, nie dłuży się i świetnie sprawdza się jako mroczniejszy romans fantasy, w który można się wciągnąć bez uczucia znudzenia. 

Sam romans jest bardzo w moim stylu. Bohaterowie nie oszukują się w nieskończoność w kwestii własnych uczuć. Pojawia się napięcie, ale też odpowiednie tempo, dzięki czemu relacja jest ekscytująca, a nie frustrująca. 

Podsumowując, bardzo polubiłam The Crimson Snow. To może nie jest książka przełomowa, ale dostarcza mroczną baśń fantasy z wyraźnymi romantycznymi akcentami i interesującą główną bohaterką. Zdecydowanie sięgnę po drugi tom, by zobaczyć, w jakim kierunku rozwinie się historia.

The Crimson Snow by Laura Vega is one of those books that felt familiar to me at first, yet still managed to enchant me with its own unique magic. There are some obvious and recognizable themes, especially for fans of romantasy, but despite that, I found the story engaging and enjoyable to read.

It strongly reminded me of Once Upon a Broken Heart — mainly because the plot draws on a fairytale about a woman transformed into a fox and killed by her beloved — but unlike that story, it doesn’t feel sickly sweet. Instead, it leans into a darker, more unsettling fairytale atmosphere. The world feels cold and morally grey, which effectively builds tension, while the eternal winter creates a fantastic atmosphere. 

I really liked the female main character. There were moments when I genuinely started questioning her intentions and wondering whether she might ultimately turn out to be the villain of the story. This ambiguity makes her far more compelling and kept me invested throughout the entire book. 

The book isn’t perfect — some plot points were easy for me to predict — but it was still a very satisfying read. The story flows smoothly, doesn’t drag, and works perfectly as a darker fantasy romance I could sink into without feeling bored. 

The romance itself is very much my style. The characters don’t lie to themselves endlessly about their feelings. There’s tension, but also a good sense of pace, which makes the relationship feel exciting rather than frustrating. 

Overall, I really enjoyed The Crimson Snow. It may not be groundbreaking, but it delivers a dark fairytale fantasy with strong romantic elements and an intriguing main character. I’ll definitely be picking up the second book to see where the story goes next.
